As long as you can tell your left from your right, and you can walk forward, you can square dance. You don't need any special dance clothes or shoes. All you need are comfortable clothes such as jeans and a t-shirt, and shoes or boots that are comfortable for walking. That's it! (Well, wearing a big smile always helps, too.) The Utah Pride Center understands that progress cannot be made by one person or group alone. On the other hand, we know the power of solidarity and cohesion. That is why, as the center of the community, the Utah Pride Center has created a campaign to amplify the momentum and diverse ideas of our very amped community. The Utah Pride Center is proud to present: Amplify: Pride. Voice. Action. The mission of Amplify is to increase in magnitude and strength the pride, voice and action of Utah's diverse queer and allied community through advocacy, conversation and outreach. This year we increased our membership numbers, contributions, and participation in our fight for Equality. We are sending a strong message to our elected representatives that we demand equal protection under the law. Our efforts paid off this summer as Congress passed the Matthew Shepard Act expanding the Hate Crimes laws to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. This was a historic vote for our movement and HRC is committed to begin an educational campaign to provide the same protections for the Transgender community. Locally, the Utah steering committee hosted an extremely successful Gala Dinner in Orem and organized a number of community events including: Facing East, L-Word season premier, Democratic Presidential debate at Club-TriAngles, & screening of the film For the Bible tells Me So. We need your help to keep our momentum going! We are asking for your participation in one or more events listed below.
