  • Come Volunteer with HRC in Utah! Thank You for Your Support. We have accomplished a lot this year locally and nationally. This year we increased our membership numbers, contributions, and participation in our fight for Equality. We are sending a strong message to our elected representatives that we demand equal protection under the law. Our efforts paid off this summer as Congress passed the Matthew Shepard Act expanding the Hate Crimes laws to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. HRC worked with the House of Representatives to pass ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act) which provides workplace protection for gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. This was a historic vote for our movement and HRC is committed to begin an educational campaign to provide the same protections for the Transgender community. Locally, the Utah steering committee hosted an extremely successful Gala Dinner in Orem and organized a number of community events including: Facing East, L-Word season premier, Democratic Presidential debate at Club-TriAngles, & screening of the film For the Bible tells Me So. We need your help to keep our momentum going! We are asking for your participation in one or more events listed below. Please email Angela, Utah's Volunteer Coordinator, at hrcutahvolunteers@gmail.com for more information. All of these events need people for planning, day-of coordination, recruiting, fundraising, promoting and having a good time: Cycling fund raiser/race in September or October, & Election work for the 2008 Presidential Campaign.
